">Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM) 2007 (https://www.lifequote.com/). Launched in 1994 by The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE), the goal of the yearly event is to get Americans to consider their life insurance needs and to motivate them to do something to address those needs.

A priority during the upcoming events this September is to reach women, whose role in financial decision making is growing. Trends indicate that women are either making or influencing the big financial decisions in their households. The focus will be on a multi-media outreach campaign targeting women.

It seems appropriate that this year's national spokesperson is a woman; comedian, actress and former Saturday Night Live cast member Molly Shannon will share her family's story of loss and financial struggle in an effort to encourage millions of Americans to take stock of their personal insurance needs.

Molly was just four years old when she was in a car accident that took the lives of her 33-year old mother, her cousin and her younger sister. She survived the crash, along with her father and older sister, but her dad was badly injured in the accident and was unable to work for several years. In addition, Molly's mom, a school teacher, didn't have any life insurance coverage. She vividly remembers her father's struggle to provide for his two daughters.

Shannon's is not an isolated story. Once again, LIAM will feature poignant stories from real people who have suffered similar tragic events, illustrating the importance of life insurance

protection.

LifeQuote?(lifequote.com) Chief Executive Officer Eugene C. Gordon is a big supporter of this national effort to educate consumers about the need for life insurance. "Death is a topic of conversation most families avoid but having life insurance (term life insurance) coverage could someday prevent a financial tragedy," says Mr. Gordon.

Case in point, the campaign this year will feature $25,000 worth of college scholarships for deserving students who have suffered losses in their families that have affected their ability to pay for an education. College-age students submitted essays or videos describing the financial hardship that resulted when a parent died and had little or no life insurance coverage. LIFE will award 2 grand-prize scholarships of $5,000 and a total of 25 scholarships which will be announced in September.

And in an effort to get consumers to think about life insurance (life insurance quotes) in a more pleasant format, Life has just launched a series of electronic greeting cards related to happy life events such as baby, marriage, birthday and retirement. Consumers are encouraged to send the fun and free e-cards to family and friends urging them to protect themselves financially through life insurance. Check out the e-cards at www.insureyourfuturenow.org.
